Why Do I Balance Tires?

However, tire balancing does more then extend the life of your tires. It also helps create a smooth driving experience. How? Well, your tires tend lose balance over time, which in turn can lead to uneven driving. While each vehicle is different, experts generally recommend getting your tires balanced every 5,000 to 6,000 miles or six months.

Signs I Need to Balance my Tires

Outside of the recommended service markers, there are certain things to look out for that may indicate it’s time to have your tires balanced. These can include:

Excessive Vibration: Slight vehicle shaking could be due to road conditions; however, if this shaking becomes excessive, it’s probably a good idea to bring your vehicle in for tire balancing. These added vibrations are most notably felt through the steering wheel.

Difficulty Steering: Unbalanced tires can create a challenging driving experience and can lead to several steering issues such as a delay of response time. If you’re experiencing steering difficulties, it’s mostly likely time to get your tires balanced.

Uneven Tire Tread: Take a moment to inspect your vehicle’s tires. Looking at the treads in the tires, you should see signs of even wear, meaning if one spot is worn out, the rest will be, too. If you see even wear, you’re good to go. If not, time to have the tires balanced.

How to Balance My Tires

While it is possible to balance your vehicle’s tires at home, the best way to ensure your tires get the proper treatment is by bringing your vehicle into our service center.

Not only are our technicians professionally trained with years of experience, they have access to specialized equipment not commonly owned by the average individual.

When you bring your vehicle in for tire balancing, our technicians will mount each wheel to a balancing machine, spinning each wheel to ensure even weight of the tire and wheel. Then, if they detect any amounts of imbalance, they’ll use a lead weight to even things out.

After, the tires will be remounted to your vehicle and you’re good to go!
