The 2020 VW Jetta can get up to an EPA-estimated 30 MPG city and 40 MPG highway.ⁱ To help you make fewer stops for gas, it runs on a sporty 1.4L 4-cylinder engine. You’ll have total control over your drive with the standard 6-speed manual transmission. An 8-speed automatic is also available to give you quick, precise shifting.

The 2020 Ford Fusion offers a couple engines, but none of them are quite as efficient or fun to drive. Its most efficient all-gas powertrain is a 1.5L 4-cylinder EcoBoost® engine that gets up to 23 MPG city and 34 MPG highway. On top of forcing you to make more pit stops, the Fusion only has a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Infotainment System

To make your drive more fun and convenient, the VW Jetta comes with a user-friendly infotainment system. Every trim level has a sleek touchscreen display in the center of the dashboard. The App-Connect system includes standard Bluetooth® compatibility, so you can stream music and make hands-free phone calls. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are also available to give you access to your smartphone apps.

The Ford Fusion also offers Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. While Bluetooth® is standard on every trim level, a touchscreen is not. The base trim only features a small 4.2-inch LCD screen.

Interior Amenities

Both sedans offer comfortable features like power adjustable seats, ventilated front seats, and climate control. The VW Jetta offers more amenities that make you feel connected to your drive, though. For starters, a panoramic sunroof makes it a great choice for sunny days and warm nights. You can also customize the atmosphere inside with 10-color customizable ambient interior lighting.

You can also personalize the instrument cluster. The Volkswagen Digital Cockpit lets you choose what information you’ll see on a 10.25-inch screen. Plus, it can save up to four driver profiles. You can even switch to full-screen navigation mode and see where your next turn is coming up.

The Ford Fusion also offers ambient interior lighting, but there aren’t as many colors to choose from. While its instrument cluster can show you information about your drive, it doesn’t offer anything like the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit.
